Prize Distribution Ceremony Cash Prizes (Rs. 120,000) sponsored by National ICT R&D Fund
The prize distribution ceremony for Project Dareecha was held on Saturday, the 23rd of January 2010 to commemorate the successful completion of the project and to announce the results and to distribute the prizes of the website development competition held at the end of the training program. A total of Rs. 120,000 was given out in cash prizes to the competition winners, sponsored by the National ICT R&D Fund. In addition, certificates of participation were distributed to all participants and awards to top performers.
The ceremony was held at the NUCES Lahore campus, and all participating heads, teachers and students from schools of Sargodha, Attock and Chakwal districts are invited to attend. All judges who were part of the evaluation process, and selected the winners were also invited.
During the ceremony, Dr. Sarmad Hussain, Principal Investigator of the project presented the project and competition details, Dr. Khaver Zia represented the panel of judges, Mr. Sheheryar Sultan, (DCO of Sargodha district when the project was launched) who played a pivotal role in signing up the majority of the schools spoke about the benefits of the project and Dr. Javed Abdul Ghani, Chairman PITB, presided as Chief Guest of the ceremony. The National ICT R&D Fund, sponsoring the Rs. 120,000 in cash prizes, was represented by Mr. Fawad Younus, GM Monitoring. Competition participants followed the ceremony with great anticipation, and the first place tie in the community website category revealed the level of competitiveness created by the participating schools.
