  Seminar in Computational Grammar

  Objective

Urdu grammar has been reasonably well studied. However, different authors differ in the way analysis is done for Urdu. In addition, even though the analyses are thorough, they still sometimes lack the detail required for computational modeling. This course will look at existing qualitative and quantitative grammars of Urdu to develop a computational perspective. The focus of the course will be on quantitative treatment of grammatical phenomena in Urdu to develop its holistic understanding and highlight any open issues. To realize the grammar, Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG) Framework will be employed.
